Project Activities
1. Project management
Project management is an activity that will be implemented throughout the whole project implementation. This activity is structured in three sub activities which are necessary to effectively management of the project and these are: administrative coordination, financial coordination and technical coordination. Within the activity will be carried out all activities related to the establishment of the project team, preparation of project documentation (reports, correspondence, etc.), implementation of the planned activities, monitoring and control and closure of the project.
2. Press conferences for promotion of the project
The aim of this activity is to promote the project to the public, at the beginning of the implementation of the project will be hold two press conferences, one in Shtip and the other in Blagoevgrad. With these promotions on a very simple and efficient way, the project will be promoted and at the same time, the objectives and the expected results will be presented to a wider audience. At the events will be invited media representatives, representatives of municipalities and institutions, NGOs and the private sector. Promotional materials will be prepared and distributed to journalists and other participants. Through the TV reports of the journalists from the press conferences on radio, TV and online media, the wider public in the cross border region will be presented the project.
3. Strengthening Capacity - Climate Changes
order to increase the capacity of representatives of the municipal and regional administrations, as well as representatives of institutions and NGOs dealing with the consequences of climate change, will be organize courses on climate change and measures to reduce the effects of climate change. Through the training, participants will increase their knowledge and understanding of climate change, which will contribute to defining the appropriate local and regional policy in relation to this problem and create conditions for the creation of projects to mitigate the effects of climate change.
4. Campaign to raise awareness
Increasing awareness regarding то the effects of climate change and measures that can be taken to adapt to these changes is the goal of this activity. The campaign will be organized as a tool to raise awareness on climate change, sustainable use of energy and construction of "green" infrastructure.
The campaign will be consist of two sets of activities:
Preparation and distribution of educational materials, including the production and broadcasting of video and audio spot 2. Campaign with using of special mobile lab and mobile office that voltage with electricity generated from the sun. During the campaign, measures for the mitigation of climate change that can be implemented at local or regional level will be developed in detail and presented. Within the frame of the campaign will be create Web site and Facebook page, and on the Web site will be shown actual savings in terms of energy, financial resources and reduce emissions that have been achieved with the implementation of construction works in the project.
5. Strengthening capacities - "green infrastructure"
Within the frame of this activity will be held training for green infrastructure. The training will be attended by representatives of the municipalities that are part of the East Planning Region and the municipalities of the district of Blagoevgrad. The purpose of training is to increase the knowledge of the participants regarding the term of green infrastructure. Participants will learn about the importance of building a green infrastructure to mitigate climate change which will create conditions for greater use of green infrastructure and promoting green transport. This will help to the participants in the process of defining policies relating to the environment. The EU's green infrastructure, general information about what and how to build a green infrastructure and examples from several countries will be presented.
Construction works in the Municipality of Kochani
Construction work in the Municipality of Kochani include reconstruction of the building of the Municipality of Kochani with aim to improve the energy efficiency of the building. With the project will perform the reconstruction of the facade, changing of the roof, changing of the windows and building a proper infrastructure for access and movement of persons with disabilities (elevator and toilet). Also will be build and “Green roof” of the old municipal building. With the reconstruction of the building the class of energy efficiency of the object will increase from class D would become Class B.
7. Construction works in the Regional Administrative building in Blagoevgrad
Construction works in Blagoevgrad includes reconstruction of the building of the Regional Administration of Blagoevgrad region in order to improve the energy efficiency of the building. Will perform the reconstruction of the facade on the ground floor, first and second floor and the roof reconstruction. The reconstruction of the building will increase the energy efficiency class of the object and the object of class D will becomes Class C.
8. Thematic workshops and campaigns
In order to encourage the young people to take measures to protect the environment in their homes, such as saving energy and water, using less plastic, environmental stewardship, recycling, etc., will hold a series of two thematic workshops which will be combined with a campaign to raise awareness. The campaign will be realized by maintaining the 3 daily events in 3 municipalities of the East Planning Region (Shtip, Kochani and Berovo) in Macedonia, as well as holding of two workshops in the district of Blagoevgrad. This activity is for the young people aged between 10 and 17 years. At the end of the workshops, the young people will be able to distinguish between the basic concepts of climate change and will be familiar with the factors that are causing climate changes (natural and human).
9. Regional energy strategy
Within this activity will provide Regional energy strategy RES 2020 that will serves as a common strategic framework at the regional level. The document is an essential tool for the implementation of measures for energy efficiency and energy production from renewable energy sources in the district of Blagoevgrad. The strategy will be developed with the participation of all stakeholders and within the process of preparation will hold two workshops which will be attended by all stakeholders. After the formulation of the strategy will hold an event for promotion of the Strategy to the wider public.
10. Closing the project - promotion of the project results
Achieved project results will be presented at two final press conferences, which will be held in Shtip and Blagoevgrad. With these press conferences the achieved project results will be promoted to a wider audience. At the events will be invited media representatives, representatives of municipalities and institutions, NGOs and the private sector. Information materials will be prepared and distributed to journalists and other participants, which will presented the achieved project results. With the airing reports of journalists from press conferences on radio, TV and online media, the general public in the border region will be presented the project results.
Project Results
1. Reconstructed the administrative building of the Municipality of Kochani - improved energy efficiency;
2. Reconstructed part of the administrative building of the Regional Administration of Blagoevgrad district - improved energy efficiency;
3. Built “Green roof” on the municipal building in Kochani;
4. Reduced energy costs in reconstructed buildings;
5. The conditions for access and movement of persons with disabilities in the municipal building in Kochani;
6. Increased awareness of climate change and measures to reduce the effects of climate change;
7. Trained 40 people for climate change, measures to reduce the consequences, "green" infrastructure and "green" transport;
8. Design, pre-press and printing of brochures, flyers, promotional and educational material and
9. 360 young people (10-17 years) are with improved knowledge and awareness of climate change.
Target Groups
Young people aged 10 to 17 years (360) that by participating in workshops and one-day events and within the campaign will improve their knowledge for climate change.
Representatives of the municipalities and regional governments, representatives of NGOs and the private sector (80) who will participate in the trainings which will be held within the project and who will gain the knowledge for climate change, green infrastructure and green transport.
Employees in the Municipality of Kochani and the district of Blagoevgrad (240) through which the reconstruction of the facilities will improve the conditions for residence and work and
Institutions (2) Municipality of Kochani and Regional Administration Blagoevgrad which will improve the energy efficiency of buildings and will achieve financial savings.
